Kanthaswamy, the magnum opus from the Susi Ganesan-Thanu-Vikram trio will very soon hit the marquee. The launch of this film was a much talked about affair in the industry and if sources are to be believed, the crew is buzzing with energy to make its audio release also an extraordinarily special event.

A dance troupe from Italy will be giving a program on this occasion and they have also performed in the film. A leading actress from Bollywood is expected to grace the occasion. The name will be disclosed later. In all probability, the audio of Kanthaswamy is said to release in the first week of April. Devi Sri Prasad is said to have scored music in his usual style and readers may recall that Cheeyan Vikram has sung four songs in the film.

The expensive Shriya

Kanthaswamy was almost complete except for a song. Recently, the crew was at Italy shooting a song sequence featuring Vikram and Shriya. This song sequence witnessed Shriya adorned with a costume worth a jaw dropping amount of Rs. 26 lakhs. Lo behold, this is not the end. She was wearing diamond jewelry costing a whopping Rs. 6 crores. It was reported that the hiring charge alone for the jewels was Rs. 5 lakhs per day. The crew was heard saying that they had canned the film in places in Italy which has not been visited hitherto by any film team. Kanthaswamy, directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Thanu, is turning out to be a very expensive project indeed.

Shriya Saran as Akshay Kumar’s heroine

Shriya Saran never ceases to surprise you at regular intervals. What if her film with Kollywood stars like Ajit and Dhanush did not happen? Well she has signed up to play Bollywood Box-Office baron Akshay Kumar’s heroine in Deepa Mehta directed Komagata Maru

Speaking from Malaysia, where she is shooting for Sarathkumar’s K.S Ravikumar directed Jaggubhai, an excited Shriya said: “I’m on top of the world, as I ’m doing Deepa Mehta’s epic Komagata Maru. Deepaji is my favourite director and it is a great honour to do a film with her." Remember Shriya had done Deepa Mehta’s last film What’s Cooking.

Komagata Maru is an epic film based on a true story surrounding the voyage of a Japanese ship by the name ’Komagata Maru’ hired by people from Punjab led by Gurdit Singh from Hong Kong to Vancouver in 1914 with 376 passengers on board seeking a new life in the promised land.

It is a journey of one man’s courage that challenged the largest empire in the world. It bears open the heroism of Gurdit Singh, who dares to have an impossible dream- a life of freedom, equality, and dignity. The film also depicts the martyrdom of Mewa Singh.

Akshay Kumar has confirmed that he will be playing the lead Gurdit Singh, in this collaboration with Deepa Mehta. Talks are going on with various other actors including Hollywood top stars making this truly an international project on a budget of $35 to 40 million being produced by Hamilton-Mehta Production Inc. in association with Akshay Kumar’s home production, Hari Om Entertainment.

Shriya's Hollywood dreams go bust

The Other End Of the Line was the film which Shriya was depending a lot, her debut film in Hollywood. The film produced by Ashok Amritraj which released in US last Friday has bombed miserably at the box-office and the reviews too has been scathing.

The film made on a shoe-string budget of $ 2.5 million (Rs 12.5 crore), could gross only $ 57, 000 (approximately Rs 28 lakhs) from 91 screens in its opening weekend.

A leading US distributor of Tamil films says: "Shriya’s Rajnikanth film Sivaji collected almost four times this amount in its opening weekend from lesser number of screens!" The failure of the film has Shriya now looking more eagerly at Kollywood.

She has more or less taken a decision to stick to Tamil cinema and compete with arch rival Nayanthara! A few days back she has signed Vishal’s Thoranam, to be directed by debutant Ayappan. Kollywood sexy actress Shriya Saran is happy and is all smiles these days. The trailer of her first Hollywood film The other end of the line is being appreciated. The film releases in US on October 31. Last week she personally sent a clipping of the trailer to all her friends.

In the trailer she looks absolutely smashing. She plays the role of Priya an employee at an Indian call-center in Mumbai who travels to San Francisco to be with a guy, the hunk Jesse Metcalfe whom she falls for over the phone! Shriya has a steamy kissing scene with Jesse which has been picturised very well.

Meanwhile she is all excited about playing Kamal Hassan’s first wife in a flashback scene in Marmayogi, and also liplocks with the actor. Shriya has become Kamal’s biggest fan overnight, seeing his dedication and the meticulous way he narrated the script to her.

Vikram's Kanthaswamy shoots in Hyderabad

Kanthaswamy, the latest extravagant socio-fantasy flick starring Vikram and Shreya Saran, is being shot at a guest house in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. Directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under Kalaipuli International banner, Super Star Krishna is playing a pivotal role in the movie.

Presently some scenes are being shot on Shriya, Vikram and Ashish Vidyarthi at the Devi Home guest house. The film is being made as a bilingual and the Telugu version is titled Mallana. According to the script, Vikram sports different get-ups in the film and also changes his body language to suit each character. It is learnt that he would appear with a lean body in some get-ups while being well-built in some others. Shreya will also be seen in different get-ups along with Vikram.

Krishna, Telugu superstar, has acted in more than 350 movies over a career spanning four decades, and he is credited with a lot of firsts in the Telugu film industry such as, first colour movie, first cinemascope movie, first 70mm movie, first cowboy movie, etc. With Kanthaswamy, Krishna will be doing his first Tamil movie after almost thirty years.

Vikram’s last movie Tamil flick Bheemaa, didn’t really go down well with either the audiences or the critics. But knowing Vikram’s penchant for perfection, there will be something different and entirely unexpected to look forward to in Kanthaswamy.

Shreya started her next project

After completing ‘Kanthaswamy’, Shreya is off to Bangkok to commence shooting for Sarath Kumar starrer ‘Jaggubhai’.

She will shoot for the movie to be directed by K S Ravikumar for the next 40 days in Bangkok and Australia.Shreya plays Sarath Kumar’s daughter in the movie and sources say it is a challenging role and she would come up trumps.

‘Jaggubhai’ is produced by Radhika Sarath Kumar’s Raadan Media works. Initially Ravikumar had written the story keeping Rajinikanth in mind. However Rajinikanth pulled out as a result of which Sarath Kumar evinced interest to do the project.

Shreya refused to act in Danush movie

Shreya the girl who danced with Rajini and Vadivelu was in news for different reasons all these days.Now, she has almost disappeared from Kollywood and was not in news in recent times.

Now she has done some mad things to be in news and it has got her some response. She took advance to pair with Danush in a movie to be produced by Kathiresan, who produced Pollathavan.

When the advance was paid to her, she was asked to commit herself to act for the proposed movie during April this year. But the project was delayed as Danush had a couple of previous commitments and as per the agreement made in Nadigar Sangam, he has to finish it and then accept new offers.

Shreya tried to give back the advance money to Kathiresan, as she claims. Now all of a sudden she has put the money in a pocket and sent the same to Nadigar Sangam and asked the Sangam to handover the money to Kathiresan.

She then spread a news saying "Shreya refused to act in Danush movie. Gave back the advance!"As what she expected there was good media response and everyone reported the same in their channels and Shreya got publicity!!!

To be noted here is that Shreya has no other new opportunity in hand other than the one for which she returned the advance!!!

Shreya Lip Lock with Emran

Recently, actress Shreya, the hot actress of Indian screen, had acted with actor Imraan Hashmi in a Hindi film. Shreya not in marmayogi!

Kollywood sexy siren Shreya is having busy schedule and she may not be able to act in Kamal Haasan’s Marmayogi owing to her extremely busy schedules. Marmayogi is directed and produced by Kamal Haasan, who also plays the protagonist. Many were considered for the role of the heroine, Shreya being one among them.

While speaking on this matter, Shreya said that she is really happy and excited about her name being discussed for Marmayogi, and like all heroines of Kollywood, she too wants to act alongside Kamal Haasan. She said if she gets to act in Marmayogi, she would achieve the status of having acted with the “Twin Stalwarts” of Kollywood, as she has already acted with Rajinikanth in Sivaji. But Shreya said she is afraid this will not take place as she already has her hands full, juggling with films in Tamil, Hindi, and English (Kanthaswamy in Tamil; Ek and Mission Istanbul in Hindi; The Other End of the Line and What is cooking? in English). She had also signed up a film with Dhanush long ago, the shooting of which will begin in December.

She is not confident that she would be able to accept Marmayogi or any other film at present. She quipped she is looking for a miracle to happen which will enable her to act in Marmayogi despite her overloaded call sheet.

Kollywood is buzzing with news that Shreya might get a chance to work with Kamal and that some war scenes of Marmayogi will be shot in Switzerland.

‘Marmayogi’, Kamal Haasan’s next venture would be launched on July 13, exactly a month after the release of ‘Dasavatharam’. Kamal Haasan wnts the movie to be launched at the Grand Hotel in Mumbai in grand way.

Since the Shreya-Rajni combination worked well, her name is also being considered for Marmayogi which stars the other stalwart of Kollywood - Kamal Haasan. Bollywood actress Kajol’s name is also being considered for this role.

It is also heard that Shreya Saran, whose career has been growing phenomenally these days is also looking forward to play the lead in Marmayogi. Shreya got the rare and great opportunity of working with Rajni in Sivaji and is eager to work with Kamal too, by which she would achieve the much-coveted and esteemed status of having acted with the “twin stalwarts” of Kollywood.

It is also rumoured that Kamal Haasan has decided to shoot the war scenes of the movie in Switzerland so that no news about them leaks out, as such a news leak would kill the awe that these scenes could generate when released.
